Parking Attendant Narrates How Governor Waititu's Car Crushed His Foot

John Mwinga, a parking attendant at the All Saints Cathedral on Valley Road, has narrated how a car belonging to Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu allegedly hit him, crushing his left foot.

On that fateful day on February 28, Waititu was attending funeral arrangements for Murang’a Senator Irungu Kang'ata’s mother with other dignitaries at the church.

According to reports, the governor's cars approached the entrance flashing lights to be cleared in a hurry and didn’t’ want to observe parking rules within the compound.

A brief commotion ensued and that is when Mwinga felt obliged to intervene.

“I had met them at the gate when they wanted to get in without being checked, but I insisted on inspecting the vehicles," Mwinga narrated.

He mentioned that the governor's bodyguards were not happy to see him there, especially when he pointed out that they were blocking other cars.

Mwinga further disclosed that what he went through was horrible and that he could have possibly been killed in the incident.

"They insulted me and that is when the driver ran me over,”  he revealed.

Mwinga was rushed to Shalom Hospital where it was confirmed that he had sustained a fracture on his left foot.

In a recorded conversation that was partly captured by the church’s CCTV cameras, Waititu was captured dismissing Mwinga’s allegations, claiming that his shoe was just ‘scratched’ and that his foot was barely touched.

Mwinga, who now uses crutches, wants Justice especially since he has never had from the driver who hit him.

"Where will poor people like me get justice if we are treated like this?... I’ve been confined to the house since the accident. It is painful since I can’t go to work. I hope justice will be done because my family depends on me,” he lamented.
