DP William Ruto's Allies Join Forces Against Governor Alex Tolgos Over Dams Scandal

Politicians allied to Deputy President William Ruto, on Saturday, joined forces against Elegeyo Marakwet Governor Alex Tolgos at a public function.

The governor was reprimanded for supporting the ongoing probe by the DCI into the loss of Ksh 21 billion that was meant for the construction of two dams.

Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen was among the leaders who criticized Tolgos.

He asked the governor to concentrate on Elgeyo Marakwet politics and stay away from matters in Nairobi.

Most of the MPs who spoke at the function took issue with Tolgos over his earlier remarks.

However, when he rose to speak, the governor stated that Arror and Kimwarer dams should be completed despite the ongoing probe.

He explained that the two projects would really benefit locals and aid the county's growth.

Tolgos had apologised to President Uhuru Kenyatta on March 11 for disparaging remarks by four MPs from Elgeyo Marakwet.

The legislators had warned that they would organise demonstrations against the government.

They also told the president to endorse anyone he wanted to if he had lost interest in working with Ruto.

In a surprise move, Tolgos distanced the county from the MPs' sentiments and apologized to the president.
