Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has announced punishment to some top officials in his government for supposedly being lazy in their jobs.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the Governor stated that he had interdicted two Chief officers in his government for failing to meet deadlines in various programs.
The county boss further declared that he had sent home 36 other officers in the Water Ministry for failing to offer efficient services to the area residents.
“Officers have been interdicted as a result of lethargy, inability to meet set deadlines and general failure to deliver the water program as per the program set by the government,” read part of his statement.
According to Mutua, the officers were also under investigation for crimes and malpractices including; theft of fuel, receiving and asking for bribes and diversion of drilling rigs from public to private homes.
“The spirit of Maendeleo Chap Chap is quality, efficient and speedy delivery of development projects. The message here is clear. Work or go home,” declared Mutua.
Earlier this year, Governor Mutua launched the Maendeleo Chap Chap movement which he said would help increase efficiency in service delivery and wipe out corruption in the county.
The governor further set up an anti-corruption unit in the region which he assured would help hold county executives responsible for any mismanagement.
