A respected Kenyan film producer behind hit-shows like Sumu La Penzi is the latest manager at Netflix.
In a new announcement by the world's content giant, Dorothy Ghettuba was unveiled as the company's new manager in the department of International Originals.
This follows another announcement by Netflix in June last year that sought to extend original content from Africa in looking for a director of content acquisition for the Middle East, Turkey and Africa.
Kenya's Business Daily described Ghettuba as a "a fierce hard worker, a bruising negotiator and an unapologetic corporate boardroom brawler" for her unrelenting pursuit to tell African stories to the world.
In 2011, she appeared on the newspaper's highly publicised list of Top 40 women under 40.
Her shows, which are produced through a media production company she founded, Spielworks limited, have crossed over continents and become a staple in UK and France.
Programmes she has produced include Sumu La Penzi, Lies That Bind, Saints and Higher Learning.
Her husband, Oyunga Pala, who's a renowned creative writer in Kenya, serves as the creative and content developer at her company.
Several other film producers took to social media to celebrate her achievement revealing that she had joined the likes of international powerhouse such as Lupita Nyong'o and Wanuri Kahiu.
"Congratulations! Looking forward to seeing much more African content on Netflix," posted documentary maker John Allan Namu.
"Easy to say I knew she was destined for great things from back in high school, but cannot take away from how incredible she has become," posted another user.
