Bumula MP Mwambu Mabonga has expressed fear for his life after an unknown number of thugs broke into his house on Thursday night.
Citizen TV reports that the burglars poisoned the MP's dog and cut the fence to gain access to the homestead.
They only managed to steal a 32-inch television set from the home located in Munyenga village in Bungoma County.
Confirming the incident, Bumula Deputy County Commissioner John Tanui revealed that the thugs could have been carrying guns.
He also disclosed that two people had been arrested in connection with burglary, one of them was a security guard at the MP's residence.
Mabonga was not around at the time of the incident. He was on the road travelling to the home.
The first-time MP claimed that the thugs might have been sent to assassinate him.
He went on to disclose that a senior politician in the area had preveiously made death threats at a funeral.
Mabonga asked urged Bungoma County Commissioner Stephen Kihara to heighten security at his home to ensure his safety.
