Moses Kuria Blasts President Uhuru Kenyatta Over Deal With Uganda's Yoweri Museveni

Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has taken issue with President Uhuru Kenyatta over the Kenya-Uganda deal.

Speaking during a church service in Nyamira on Saturday, Kuria explained that local farmers would suffer as a result of the agreement that Uhuru signed with Yoweri Museveni.

"President Museveni was recently in the country and we signed some deals with him. However, these deals only favour Uganda and it needs to be reviewed.

"If the protocol states that we should import sugar, hens, and maize from Uganda then it will undermine Kenyan farmers," Kuria explained.

He asked MPs to re-look the deal to ensure that Kenyan farmers are not disadvantaged.

However, Senate Speaker Kenneth Lusaka, who spoke after Kuria, shied away from discussing the issue.

Instead, he asked lawmakers to tone down on politics and focus on improving the lives of Kenyans.

"If we choose to focus on politics, the Big 4 Agenda will not help us. Let's wait for the right time to discuss politics," Lusaka explained.

This is not the first time that Kuria has slammed the president in public. On February 2, he poked fun at the Big 4 Agenda and explained that the projects outlined therein were impossible to achieve.

On January 10, the controversial legislator apologized to President Kenyatta over remarks that he made during the new year’s eve celebrations in Thika.

He had accused the head of state of neglecting the Mt. Kenya region which helped him secure a win in the last general election.

Kuria explained that the president was launching projects in areas the voted for the opposition while disregarding his backyard.

He later withdrew his remarks, adding that he supports the handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM Party Leader Raila Odinga.
