Uhuru Blasts Pastors Linking Huduma Namba to Devil's 666

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Tuesday responded to a number of concerns from Kenyans regarding the Huduma Namba.

His first clarification was aimed at demystifying reports by pastors who had told their congregations that the digital registration process was linked to 666, which is associated with the devil.

Some members of the clergy were purporting similarities between the Huduma Namba and the mark of the beast that is explained in the Bible.

The pastors were referencing the book of Revelation 13:16-18 which reads, "It is also forced all people to receive a mark on their right hands or on their foreheads so that they could not buy or sell unless they had the mark. Let the person who has insight calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man. That number is 666."

President Kenyatta visibly expressed his astonishment with how the pastors had convoluted arrived the facts about the Huduma Namba.

"Mimi nilishangaa juzi, na mimi nawaheshimu (makasisi) haswa nikiwa mkristo, nikiskia makasisi wengine wakisema, ati hii ni namba ya shetani, (I respect the preachers as a Christian myself but it was surprising to hear some of them claiming that the Huduma Namba is the devil's number)," he began.

"Jameni (Goodness!)," Uhuru exclaimed while clutching his chin in disbelief.

"Shetani na kujitabulisha inaungania wapi? (What is the connection between the devil and the registration process?) My God," he concluded.

He urged the men of the cloth not to use the privileged position and the respect they command from their followers to mislead them.

Uhuru also dispelled fears that the registration process involved drawing of blood from citizens for DNA testing.

"Wengine wanasema ukienda kujiandikisha utatoa damu iwekwe DNA testing... ati mzee anaambiwa akienda kujiandikisha ama uko na mpango wa kando, mtoto atajua baba yake ni nani," he stated throwing the crowd into laughter.

"Nakwambia upuzi ambaye iko kenya ni mingi sana (There is so much stupidity in Kenya), " he struggled to remark amidst his own giggles.

The president clarified that the government was not up to anything of the sort and would make arrangements for every Kenya to have a copy of the all information about themselves as well as protect the same data from unauthorised access.
