Marius Kipserem Wins Rotterdam Marathon

Marius Kipserem set a new record on Sunday after winning the Rotterdam Marathon, Netherlands.

The Kenyan athlete clocked 2:04:10 breaking a 10-year-old record that was set by a compatriot Duncan Kibet.

In 2009, Kibet established the record upon clocking a remarkable 2:04:27.

Though both Kipserem's and Kibet's records are admirable, they still fall shy of the marathon world record holder Eliud Kipchoge.

Kipchoge made history after finishing the Berlin Marathon in the fastest time ever documented.

When he charged across the line to win the 2019 Berlin Marathon title, Kipchoge had spent 2:01.39 on the track effectively turning him into one of the most celebrated athletes.

During the Sunday's race, Kaan Özbilen of Turkey emerged second after clocking 2:05:26 while another Kenyan Emanuel Saina emerged third at 2:05:42.

Other Kenyans, Vincent Rono who clocked 2:07:09 and Josphat Boit (2:07:20) took the 5th and 6th position respectively.
