Gikomba market in Nairobi was razed down by a huge inferno on Wednesday morning.
It is believed that the early morning fire started at around 4 am along line 42 near the bridge.
Witnesses reveal that the fire gutted down stalls with shoes and apparels, traders woke up to huge losses as most the stalls had been reduced to ashes.
As 6am approached, emergency teams, including the Nairobi fire department, were at the scene trying to battle the flames.
The main cause of the fire is yet to be established.
The incident comes almost two months after another fire left traders counting losses running into millions of shillings as a huge inferno gutted down several stalls on February 7.
In recent times, Gikomba market, which is one of the biggest open-air markets in the country, has experienced fires that have left traders counting losses that ran into millions.
The most memorable one being one that left 9 people dead and over 50 others nursing injuries.
The incidents of rampant fires in the market even caught the attention of President Uhuru Kenyatta when he then directed the Nairobi County Governor Mike Sonko to ensure he gets to the bottom of the causes and solve the issue.
