Details have emerged about the personal life of Ivy Wangeci's killer, Naftali Kinuthia, who is expected to be arraigned in court once he recovers from injuries inflicted by a mob that beat him up.
Kinuthia hails from a popular business family in Thika town that trades under the name Bemwa.
The family empire started by his grandfather owns a number of apartments as well as a bookshop within the same town.
It is believed that Naftali first met the deceased after his family moved from Nakuru to Thika after the 2007/2008 post-election violence.
They both attended the same primary school, Bishop Njuguna Academy, located within the town.
A resident of Makongeni estate where Wangechi's parents live, recalled seeing Kinuthia two weeks ago when the medical student visited her folks.
Kinuthia's colleagues at a city betting firm described him as a quiet man who neither smokes nor drinks alcohol.
Before travelling to Eldoret to commit the heinous act, he had just finished his shift at 6am on Monday morning without any signs of stress.
Relatives and neighbours at his parent's rural home in Chomo, Gatanga Constituency, had a hard time believing that Kinuthia was capable of the heinous act.
“We first thought that maybe he had been bewitched because whatever happened wasn’t normal,” Moses Ndung’u, a resident told Nation.
