Peninah Wangechi Escapes Death After Being Stabbed 17 Times by Husband

Peninah Wangechi, a 30-year-old woman from Nyeri escaped death, on Tuesday night, after her husband allegedly stabbed her 17 times.

The mother of three is currently receiving life-saving treatment at the Karatina sub-county hospital.

According to Citizen, Wangechi and her husband, Samuel Ndirangu were involved in a scuffle before she was stabbed several times inflicting injuries on her back, chest, and face.

She disclosed that their marriage had been in turmoil and it was not the first time her husband had assaulted her.

Ndirangu surrendered to the police and has been remanded at the Karatina Police station for five days as authorities investigate the matter.

Medical Superintendent Benson Ngari told reporters that Wangeci survived because she did not lose a lot of blood. According to the medic, the cuts were not too deep.

The incident comes barely a week after Ivy Wangechi, a Moi university student was hacked to death.

The sixth-year student was killed with an axe by one Naftali Njahi Kinuthia who had traveled from Thika to Eldoret to see her.

It is reported that Kinuthia tried to flee the scene after committing the act but angry members of the public caught up with him and wanted to lynch him when the police showed up and rescued him.

Kinuthia claimed that he was infuriated by 24-year-old Wangechi who refused to pick his phone calls despite him having sent her money for her birthday.
