Jonathan Moi Dies in Nakuru

Former President Daniel Moi has lost his eldest son, Nation reports.

According to the publication, Jonathan Moi died in Nakuru on Friday.

Moi's long-serving Press Secretary Lee Njiru confirmed the death. He went on to explain that the family would issue a comprehensive statement on Sunday. 

Njiru asked Kenyans to respect the family's privacy as they come to terms with the loss.

“I have been asked by the Moi family to tell Kenyans to respect their privacy at this mourning period of their beloved kin,” he stated. 

Citizen Digital reports that Jonathan, a former rally driver, succumbed to cancer.

He participated in several rally tournaments before retiring in the early 2000s

Jonathan vied for Eldama Ravine parliamentary seat in 2002 and lost to Musa Sirma

He was also accused of being involved in the disappearance and death of Julia Ward in 1988. 

Ward went missing while on holiday at Masai Mara National Game Reserve.

Jonathan's siblings are; Philip, Raymond, John Mark, Jenifer, June, Doris, and Gideon.
