MP Beatrice Kones Loses Second Child in 2 Months

Bomet East MP Beatrice Kones has lost a daughter two months after her son died following an attempted suicide.

Nation reported that Kones daughter, Vicky Chebet Kones, was pronounced dead on Tuesday this week shortly after being rushed to a hospital.

“Vicky had been unwell but her condition worsened on Tuesday night. She was rushed to hospital where the doctors tried to stabilise her but, unfortunately, she did not make it,” confirmed her brother Kevin Kones.

The paper further quoted sources close to the diseased who disclosed that Chebet had battled with alcohol addiction for a long time and that she had checked into rehabilitation centers several times.

Her death shocked her friends because she was so determined to beat the addiction that she signed up as a counselor and even appeared on TV encouraging other addicts on how they can handle the addiction.

Two months ago, the MP lost another son, Collins Kipyegon Kalya, who succumbed shortly after attempting suicide.

According to doctors at War Memorial Hospital in Nakuru, Kipyegon died at the Intensive Care Unit where he was rushed to.

Kipyegon had posted a note on media prior to his death revealing that he would kill himself and that he was tired of life.

“He was rushed here early morning for having taken poison and doctors did all they could do to save his life but unfortunately he died,” commented a doctor at the time.

During his burial, his mother wondered why Kipyegon ended his life yet he lacked nothing his whole life.

Beatrice Kones is the widow of former Minister Kipkalya Kones.
