DCI Exposes How Police Bungled Assa Nyakundi's Murder Case

The Director of Criminal Investigations(DCI) has rejected a manslaughter charge against city lawyer, Assa Nyakundi citing that senior officers are said to have bungled the case.

Led by the DCI boss, George Kinoti, the investigators are inquiring about two police officers who are believed to have bungled the case.

They are also investigating senior officers from the Director of Public Prosecutions(DPP) who filed a weak manslaughter charge before the ballistics and post-morterm report was released.

"This is one of those cases I was not briefed at all by my officers. I only heard of the manslaughter charge from the media," Kinoti stated.

"Even the DPP was horrified," he added.

The DCI boss stated that Nyakundi had been taken to court and charged with no investigations to report since the file at the Kiambu court did not include crime photographs, a scene of crime analysis and a ballistics report.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, Mr Kinoti confirmed that they were planning to withdraw the case.

The City lawyer who had been hospitalised for more than six weeks maintained that his son's shooting was an accident and added that he loved him and there is nothing more to lose in a past interview.

He also stated he had never been to prison, adding it would not be worse than losing his son in the manner it happened.

"There is nothing more to lose at this point. I have lost everything," he stated.

The lawyer is accused of shooting his son on a Sunday after a church service at the International Christian Center church along Mombasa road.
