Why Ruto Might Endorse Mudavadi for President - Herman Manyora

Political analyst Herman Manyora, on Saturday, suggested that Deputy President William Ruto may endorse ANC party leader Musalia Mudavadi for president in 2022.

Speaking on his YouTube channel Take it Or Leave It, Manyora stated that Ruto may give up his bid if he is overwhelmed by the pressure from the rival team.

"If Ruto realizes that he has been surrounded and cannot make it, he will most likely endorse Mudavadi, just to give the other team a hard time and a run for their money," he stated.

Manyora added that  Mudavadi was a rising star and has everything he needs to become president.

"Greatness is coming his way, he is a son to a former bigwig and will soon be great," he commented.

This comes amid the apparent widening rift between Ruto and President Uhuru Kenyatta who had promised to back his 2022 bid, but who now appears non-committal.

Furthermore, reports have suggested that a coalition movement between Uhuru and opposition leader Raila Odinga might be in the offing.

Elsewhere, a mega Kakamega rally that was set to take place on Saturday was called off last minute after Mudavadi reportedly learnt of the meeting's agenda.

According to reports by The Standard, Mudavadi only learnt of the rally on Thursday evening after COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli disclosed to him that the meeting would be used to bash the Ruto-allied MPs.

The rally had been organised by the ‘Kieleweke’ team, which comprises leaders supporting the handshake between President Uhuru and Raila, as opposed to the ‘Tanga Tanga’ team, which backs Ruto’s 2022 presidential quest.
