Senator Exposes How Waititu Planned to Steal in Gym

Nominated senator Isaac Mwaura, on Tuesday, revealed that Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu once revealed his plan to loot from public coffers when the opportunity presented itself.

During an interview on NTV's AMLive show, Mwaura stated that the interaction occurred when the two were in the parliamentary gym.

The nominated senator stated, "I was part of the campaign of Governor Waititu, but I was shocked when one day at the parliamentary gym when he told me point blank, 'Mwaura when we get into government we must steal because Raila stole under Kazi Kwa Vijana programme and even the money it is said he stole is much more, he stole Ksh3.4 Billion'."

Mwaura stated that he disagreed with Waititu's remarks arguing that people were making budgets to steal.

"If you have stolen and you are in Tangatanga, you are a thief. If you have stolen and you're in Kieleweke you are still a thief!" he explained.

His sentiments came after the county head was unable to justify ridiculous expenses in the budget for the year 2017/18.

The report, presented to the Senate County Public Accounts and Investment Committee, showed that Kiambu County had allocated Ksh180 Million for the administration of benefits to retired presidents.

Ksh973 Million was also documented to have been used in the co-ordination of State House functions and Ksh800 Million for free primary education.

The report added that Ksh591 Million was used on State Corporations Advisory Committee and Ksh58 Million to support South Sudan's peace process.

Waititu in a follow-up interview stated that the contentious budget had been prepared by the previous administration.

" It's actually not us who did this budget but for the previous Government, under Governor Kabogo," he explained.
