Alarm Over Syndicate Offering Fake Yellow Fever Cards

Health Cabinet Secretary, Sicily Kariuki has raised an alarm over rogue health workers who have been issuing fake yellow fever cards to travellers who are unable to differentiate them from the real ones.

Speaking during the official opening of a two-day seminar on 'Health and Security Conference, Ms Kariuki cited that her ministry would make the service highly subsidized to eliminate monetary incentive.

The CS stated that the cartels expose the country to serious health risks that can cause a security risk.

The seminar, which was attended by medical experts, the Kenyan military, and Kenya Defence Forces was held at the Kenya School of Monetary Studies in Nairobi.

Ms Kariuki announced that the government would gazette new guidelines that would help regulate the administration of the vaccination and centres where the services would be offered.

"There are crooks issuing Yellow Fever cards from River Road which poses a serious exposure of health risks in our country," she noted.

Defence Cabinet Secretary, Raychelle Omamo, who was also in attendance, stated that no country could reach a state of complete security without collaboration at regional and international level.

"Due to weaponization of pathogens and bacteria either for research or evil deeds, we have to fundamentally re-order how we think about security," she added.
