Citizen TV Anchor Opens Up About Father's Incurable Disease

Citizen TV's Swahili anchor Swaleh Mdoe has finally opened up about an incurable disease his father suffered before his death on Sunday afternoon.

In a sit-down with The Star Newspaper, the celebrated anchor stated that his father, Ali Buki, had battled throat cancer for a long time that doctors lost hope on him and discharged him not because he was healed.

He went on to add that Buki, who passed away on Sunday afternoon, was taken home where he continually received treatment for his condition that he battled for a long time.

"My dad has been sick for some time now. A few months ago, he was moved from Mombasa where he stays and was taken to Malindi to stay with his elder sister.

"He has been in Malindi, it reached a point where the doctors gave up on him and discharged him even before he was fully recovered. Since then, he has been receiving treatment from home and on Sunday is when my aunt called me and broke the news that he passed on," narrated Swaleh.

The soft-spoken anchor, however, disclosed that he cherished the time he spent with his father and that he would treasure his memory forever.

"I will remember him as my dad, but I have no words to specifically remember him with but being a father is the most important thing despite the weakness he had," he continued.

The deceased was buried on Monday, May 28, 2019.

In November 2018, another Citizen TV presenter, Timeless Noel, lost his father a few hours after he sent out an appeal to the public seeking aid.

He had been admitted in ICU at the time.
