Most Wanted Gangster Gunned Down in Mombasa

The most wanted criminal in Mombasa County, Dula alias Captain J was gunned down on Sunday following a coordinated police raid.

Dula and three of his henchmen were spotted in Magodoroni, Kisauni sub-county, by locals who then alerted the police.

The gang was reportedly on a looting spree when the security officers led by Kisauni Sub-county Police Commander (SCPC), Julius Kiragu, circled in on their location.

A dramatic chase ensued with Captain J's three underlings narrowly evading the police dragnet, however, the ring leader was shot during the melee and pronounced dead.

“His three accomplices managed to escape away but we have launched a manhunt for them,” Officer Kiragu divulged to the Daily Nation.

Police records had placed Dula at the very top of the criminal organization that had been terrorizing Kisauni residents over the years.

Dula was constantly linked to the dreaded Wakali Kwanza and Wakali Wao gangs, renown for their extremely violent nature.

The slain gangster reportedly preferred wielding a knife, leaving numerous victims with multiple stab wounds each time he orchestrated a raid.

He was allegedly brazen in his activities to a point that he wrote a warning letter to the police urging them to steer clear of his mother lest they faced his wrath.

This was after detectives had paid numerous trips to his mother's house while pursuing him.

The SCPC went on to link the slain criminal to several killings of pupils studying at the Technical University of Mombasa (TUM), with his latest victim recorded as a female student found with multiple stab wounds and injuries after a vicious attack carried out by his gang.

A week ago, Faculty of Applied and Health Science fourth-year student at TUM, David Mwaura, was found murdered within the same area, with his four stab wounds fitting the late Captain J's mode of operation (M.O).

Kiragu went on to acknowledge the rising cases of insecurity within Kisauni, going on to assure the residents that his security officials were solely focused bringing an end to the reign of terror by such criminal gangs that had left countless innocents dead.
