Tragedy struck in Narok after a police land cruiser rammed into two boda boda riders killing one person.
Reports reaching our news desk indicate that the incident occurred after the riders allegedly refused to stop at the Mauche roadblock in Likia, Mau Narok.
The incident was a replica of another accident where a police vehicle, that was in pursuit of a matatu, rammed into a crowd at Itumbe market in Kisii County in April, 2019.
Eye witness accounts noted that the vehicles were moving at very high speed at the time of the accident.
One of the victims died on the spot while the other succumbed to his injuries at Lenmek hospital.
“Immediately after the accident, locals engaged the police in running battles as the officers fought to take the body of the deceased away,” Sagini Kerosi, an eyewitness reiterated.
Angry residents of Itumbe market barricaded roads and lit fires in protest of the accident.
In an earleir incident in February, three people died on the spot after a vehicle allegedly belonging to Trans-Nzoia County Government knocked down a motorcycle they were riding on.
The motorcycle was ferrying the pillion passengers, a woman and her three children along the Kitale-Kachibora road in the county.
In response, angry members of the public burnt down the Land Cruiser near Kipkeikei market. The vehicle was ferrying police officers.
