Kakamega Twins Whisked Off to Secret Location After DNA Results

Sharon Mitekwa and Melon Lutenyo, Mevis Imbayi and their mothers were, on Saturday, whisked off to an unknown location immediately after they left Lancet Kenya.

Edaily reports that a vehicle that belongs to the laboratory was used to transport them.

According to the publication, the move was meant to hinder journalists from asking the girls and their families many questions.

It was not immediately clear how long they will remain in the undisclosed location.

Sharon and Melvin grabbed headlines after their uncanny resemblance sparked speculations that they were twins.

A DNA test which was conducted at Lancet Kenya and made public on Saturday revealed that they were twins.

"Sharon Mitekwa and Melon Lutenyo share identical DNA profiles with the 23 allelic loci tested show 100% perfect match, which is consistent with the two being biologically identical twins," the report reads in part.

It was, however, established that Melon and Sharon are not related to Mevis.

According to the report, Mevis' parents are Angeline Omina Matias and Wilson Ruta Maruti.
