IG Mutyambai Warns Kenyans on Fake Facebook Account

The National Police Service on Monday morning took to Facebook to warn Kenyans of a fake account impersonating Inspector General of Police Hilary Mutyambai.

The police further informed the public that the Inspector General does not have a Facebook page or Account but a Twitter Account only under the handle (@IG_NPS).

Kindly report this (Link: https://www.facebook.com/hilary.mutyambai.9) as it goes against the Facebook Community Standards,” the police Facebook post went on to read.

The fake Facebook account which cannot be accessed anymore has several details of the Inspector General.

According to the screenshot posted by the police, the fake account details that the IG went to the University of Nairobi and Machakos ‘Boiz’ High School.

It also claims that the IG is married and comes from Machakos. It also has a profile picture of the IG in his police regalia.

The cover photo is his picture in a suit.

Mutyambai is the current Inspector General of Police, having taken over from Joseph Boinnet.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Nairobi and a Masters of Arts degree in National Security Policy from the Australian National University.
