Three suspects were on Monday evening arrested by the police for breaking and stealing from parked vehicles.
The suspects were alleged to be members of a notorious gang which controls a syndicate believed to be operating at Gateway Mall along Mombasa road in Mlolongo.
The three, two men and a woman, were arrested at the mall.
According to Athi River police Sub-county police commander Samuel Mukuusi, the security guards at the mall alerted police that they had captured the trio on CCTV cameras while breaking into vehicles.
“There have been rampant reports and complaints from the public on this break in syndicates. These three will assist us to conduct the investigations,” Mukuusi revealed.
Mukuusi divulged that the police would further investigate where the suspects live so as to recover more stolen goods.
“We want to investigate where the suspects live. We are doing our best as police service to ensure that we manage crimes in the entire Athi River sub-county,” Mukuusi informed.
The gang has also been targeting cars parked along the highway.
The three suspects were found in possession of handbags and other valuables which police believe had been stolen from cars parked at the mall.
Members of the public who might have lost valuable goods were called upon to record a statement at Mlolongo Police Station.
