Man Arrested for Insulting Woman Rep

The Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) apprehended a man for allegedly insulting Tharaka Nithi woman representative Beatrice Nkatha.

The man, identified as Joel Lawrence Nyamao was arrested on Monday after DCI tracked him down.

Joel sent threatening and abusive messages to the woman representative.

Several items including assorted handsets and ID photocopies were confiscated.

DCI also seized 38 SIM cards, and 20 card holders.

More so, three lists bearing handwritten mobile numbers and names of MPs and Senators were nabbed.

The suspect was held in lawful custody and will be arraigned to court on Monday.

Earlier this month, a masters student from the University of Nairobi who had been extorting money from MPs was also arrested.

The student, Alex Anyolo was sending threatening messages to Njoro MP, Charity Kathambi Chepkwony, and five other MPs with the intent of extorting.

The 30-year-old is said to have received money from another member of parliament and admitted to sending threatening messages to the MPs.
