Details of Anonymous Letter to Uhuru on Ruto’s Elimination Claim

Details of an anonymous letter reportedly written to President Uhuru Kenyatta that claimed there was a plot to eliminate Deputy President William Ruto have been revealed, as reported by KTN News and Citizen TV.

The letter alleged to have been penned by one of his Cabinet Secretaries who sought anonymity is dated May 30, 2019. Towards the end of the letter, the CS claimed other colleagues in the Cabinet were holding meetings to plan malice against the DP.

ICT CS Joe Mucheru, his Health counterpart Sicily Kariuki, Trade & Industrialization CS Peter Munya, appeared before the Directorate of Criminal Investigations on Monday over the claims.

What is more concerning is the 3rd Agenda. The ‘PS’ told the meeting that the DP must be stopped, but more worrying was the fact that he alluded to a late Cabinet Minister who perished in a plane crash. The PS went on to say that even that particular person was stopped, who does this one (Ruto) think he is,” the alleged letter read.

Your Excellency, I have an issue with this whole arrangement. In my whole life as a public servant, I have never involved myself in politics, conspiracy and hate campaigns, leave alone plotting to eliminate political leaders,” the CS goes on to defend his reputation.

Trade & Industrialization CS Peter Munya had told reporters that he was directed to conduct development meetings by the president.

As a diligent and loyal public servant, I write to you to request to be exempted from these meetings. I do so because the PS says he has express instruction from you to have us take part and implement decisions arrived at,” the letter discloses.

On Saturday, it is alleged that after the DP informed the President of the plot against him, Uhuru called for meeting at State House.

In attendance were Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i, Inspector General of Police Hilary Mutyambai, Interior Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho, Director of Criminal Investigations George Kinoti and National Intelligence Service Director General Philip Kameru.

It is believed that in this meeting, the president revealed that some CSs, PSs and parastatal bosses from the Mt Kenya region had met at Hotel La Mada along Thika Road to plot against the DP.
