Judge Gives 5 Orders Before Releasing Dennis Itumbi

Digital, Innovations and Diaspora Communications Secretary Dennis Itumbi was, on Wednesday, set free on a Ksh100,000 cash bail.

While delivering the ruling, the high court judge gave Itumbi four conditions he has to observe while free.

The blogger was ordered to report to Muthaiga Police Station every two days as well as deposit his passport in court.

The judge also made it clear that the suspect could receive his power bank on Wednesday, July 10, but his mobile phone would remain in custody for 14 days.

The digital secretary was also asked not to make comments about the case on social or mainstream media.

The matter is set for hearing on July 22.

The prosecution had asked the court to detain the suspect for nine more days.

Itumbi was taken into custody in probe over a letter believed to be fake on an alleged plot to assassinate Deputy President William Ruto.

The digital strategist was earlier in the month picked up by Flying Squad officers near City Hall and bundled into a vehicle belonging to the DCI.

On July 4, Itumbi was condemned to police custody for five more days to allow authorities to carry out further investigations.
