Raila Leaves Gov Waiguru's Wedding Guests in Stitches [VIDEO]

Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, on Saturday, left guests at Kirinyaga Governor Anne Mumbi's wedding in stitches, after he made a witty remark during his speech.

Odinga made a wordplay, linking the day's events to politics about the 2022 General Election.

He stated that while there were reports, that the governor was being courted to become a running mate, in the next presidential election, she had already found a walking mate.

"Mumbi was telling us that there are people who want her to be their running mate. Today, she has found a walking mate," Raila quipped to the amusement of the guests.

He praised the traditional wedding arrangement, claiming that many Kenyans had dumped their culture due, to western influence.

The wedding ceremony was based on Agikuyu culture, with the theme colours being brown and gold.

He called for the establishment of cultural centres in all counties, to help preserve local traditions.

President Uhuru Kenyatta also applauded the setup, adding that he had witnessed customs that existed even before colonial Kenya.

"Colonisers came and convinced us that our culture is stupid, gave us a Bible that they had also borrowed elsewhere and instilled their culture in us.

"From then on, Africans began to look down on themselves because they're trying to copy the western culture," he noted.
