Ruto's Allies' Role in Controversial La Mada Meetings Exposed

Imenti North MP Rahim Dawood has revealed unknown details of the controversial La Mada Hotel meetings.

A report by Nation indicated that the outspoken legislator disclosed that allies and supporters of Deputy President William Ruto were also in the gathering.

He alleged that some of them were even helping them to convene the assemblies.

Dawood further claimed that he was also part of the meetings, adding that they had nothing to do with the DP.

"Most of the MPs from 10 counties in Mt Kenya attended meetings in Nyeri, Naivasha, and La Mada, and there is no time that we discussed DP Ruto.

"His followers were also there. It is not a crime for Mt Kenya leaders to meet over development,” Dawood stated.

He also dismissed people who were dragging Trade CS Peter Munya into the matter and claimed that they had ulterior motives.

According to Dawood, those who are alleging that the former Meru governor was involved were only interested in limiting his activities and dimming his political star.

“Even when he was governor and we were rivals, he never wished me any harm yet he had immense powers.

"How will he harm the DP? Munya was proposed by President Kenyatta to coordinate the Mt. Kenya region,” he added.

On June 24, ICT CS Joe Mucheru, his Health counterpart Sicily Kariuki, Trade CS Peter Munya presented themselves to the DCI after Ruto reportedly filed a complaint about a plot to assassinate him.

Speaking to journalists at the DCI offices along Kiambu Road, Munya rubbished the claims and termed them as wild and unsubstantiated.

He also revealed that they could not record a statement because there was no written allegation they could respond to.
