10 Strict Rules Arunga Must Follow for the Next 10 Months

Former TV news anchor, Esther Arunga, recently hit the headlines following her admission to having given a false account on how her son died.

Arunga was on Thursday sentenced to 10 months in prison but was released on parole by the court. These are the ten strict regulations Arunga must abide with for the period of the sentence.  

She will be supervised by the Queensland Corrective Services (QCS) until the 10-month period ends. QCS is an Australian body that manages government and privately operated custodial facilities.

1.The lawyer cum journalist must stay in contact with the probation and parole staff by reporting to an office or having officers visit her home or workplace.

2.In addition to being in contact with the aforementioned authorities, she has to comply with rules set by the correctional service of Australia.

3.Arunga is not to commit any crime while on parole, not even a minor offence, as it would taint her record.

4.In the event that she changes her job or house locations, she should inform the correctional services unit of her decision within 48 hours.

5.The Australia-based Kenyan is not to use any illegal drug or even drink alcohol for the 10 months and will be undergoing several drug tests during the same period.

"She will be receiving constant visits from the correctional service unit who will perform drug tests on her, "reads part of the Justice Australian Parole Authority report.

6.Her movement will also be limited as she will not be allowed to leave Queensland, Australian, without permission from the authorities.

7.During her 10 months parole, she will be expected to attend courses, programs, meetings and counselling offered by the Australian correctional service.

8.At the end of her parole, officers from the probation and parole section of Queensland Corrective Services will carry out surveillance to check whether her risk level is appropriate.

9.Arunga's physical appearance will be constantly checked, the manner she communicates with others, her home stability and relationships will also be put under scrutiny.

10. She must also be in good terms with her family. The officers can also contact her family or friends to find out how Arunga is behaving.

If she breaches the parole orders, the conditions may be changed or her parole order may be suspended or cancelled and she will be returned to prison.
