President Uhuru Kenyatta and Nairobi Governor, Mike Sonko, on Saturday ganged up for a project aimed at empowering the youth.
Speaking in Nairobi's Mowlem Estate during the commissioning of the New KCC Dandora factory, the president declared support for Sonko in his efforts to create job opportunities for youth through various projects.
The two leaders promised to channel more resources to the improvement of livelihoods in the city explaining that there was need to create more job opportunities.
"We know that our youth are still facing challenges and that is why we have to work together by investing more in such projects that will give us the opportunities we want," stated Uhuru.
He further hailed the governor for the ongoing renovation of markets and other job creation initiatives in areas perceived to be crime hit, like Dandora.
"Such projects will help us and they are important for young people like you," continued Uhuru.
On his part, Sonko thanked Uhuru for commissioning the factory which will open up the area to more trade apart from making it safer for investors.
"I want to congratulate the President for the cooperation we have had and that is why we are having such projects that will improve our trading capacity," Sonko told the congregation.
The factory is expected to create 400 job opportunities with milk production of 160,000 litres per day.
During his speech, Uhuru broke protocol after he discovered that Sonko had not yet addressed the crowd.
He was forced to cut short his address to give the county boss a chance to speak.
