Former Citizen TV anchor turned voice-over maestro, Johnson Mwakazi, narrated how an original poem he wrote and performed earned him his first flight out of Africa.
The flight was also his first-ever in his life. Mwakazi narrated in a recent motivational oration he recorded.
“One poem I recited for a World Health Organisation (WHO) Director-General, enabled me to board a plane for the first time in my life. The director invited me to Switzerland to perform the same poem.
“It was a one and a half minute poem that I wrote and performed. I didn’t pay a cent to something that was birthed within,” Mwakazi narrated.
Mwakazi went on to encourage everyone to believe that there is a reason for everything.
“When we are talking about using what you have, the keyword I’d want us to focus on is "you".
“There is a reason you are here at such a time as this,” Mwakazi inspired.
Mwakazi, who is also a businessman, was at the peak of his career when he left Royal Media Services (RMS) in 2013 for greener pastures.
Currently, the award-winning journalist runs The Royal Voice International, a media production company that provides voice-over services for numerous content across the media landscape.
