Video of Sonko on His Knees Sparks Mixed Reactions

Nairobi Governor, Mike Mbuvi Sonko, is always making headlines for his flamboyant and amusing behaviour and rarely shies away from the cameras.

On Tuesday evening, the governor posted a video of himself and others, kneeling down in prayer while they sang along to Pastor Mary Kanemba's song 'Roho yangu na ikuimbie'.

While captioning the video which he posted on Facebook, Sonko divulged that he had gone on his knees to pray for the contested Division of Revenue Bill.

In a letter directed to all governors from the Chairman of the Council of Governors, Wycliffe Oparanya, he stated that due to the collapse of mediation of the Division of Revenue Bill between the National Assembly and the Senate, the counties would not manage to pay salaries and service providers in good time.

He added that the monies would be disbursed by the Treasury.

"We wish to alert all unions, private sector, citizens who receive services from County Governments and most importantly employees of the County Governments to note that times ahead will be tough," he wrote.

Those who saw the video had mixed reactions about the governor posting it online while others just praised him for the action.

"And when you pray go to your private place..your closet don't be like the teachers of the law who want to be seen praying in the synagogues...at least this is what my bible says," Chichi Chirie commented.

"Hypocrisy God is watching you," Emily weighed in.

"Praying together, glory be to God," Kennedy Mbaja noted.

"Woow this is so awesome," Ann Ng'oi commended the governor.

The bill on the allocation of funds has left the Senate and National Assembly divided.

The National Assembly proposed that the counties should get Ksh 310 billion while the Senate demands that the law is respected and counties allowed to get their due share.
