Angry Residents Torch Probox Carrying Suspected OCS After 'Abduction'

Residents of Kamwaura village, Kuresoi North in Nakuru County, set ablaze a Toyota Probox that was carrying suspected police officers.

The said officers are claimed to have abducted a famous businessman in the area, Peter Waithaka Mwangi, who runs Ebenezzer Wholesalers.

According to the trader, commonly referred to as Ebenezzer, the suspected police showed up at his business premises on Tuesday at around 5 pm.

"The man was decently dressed. I thought he was a police officer who needed a house because I own rentals and I have had several police tenants," explained Mwangi.

"They had parked the probox, whose registration number I cannot recall, just right at the entrance of my business and when I stood near it, they ordered me to get in," he added.

Mwangi narrates getting into the car at the order and to his surprise, the car took off immediately.

He got suspicious and demanded to know where they were taking him and for what reasons, much to his dismay.

"After a drive of about 100M, I asked where they were taking me and the only answer I got was, you're coming with us," narrated Mwangi.

"I told them that if they were genuine police, they should report me to my local police post so that the proper channels for the arrest are followed but they could hear none of it," he stated.

At that point, residents assumed that the businessman had been abducted and took Mwangi's car in hot pursuit of the probox.

When they realised they were being followed, they stopped near St. Lilian School and identified themselves as police officers.

He enquired the reasons for his arrest, as well as an arrest warrant, but there was none and the car took to the road again.

Mwangi continued causing commotion in the car prompting the lady at the front to identify herself as the Molo OCS.

"I was surprised and demanded to know why the OCS was not making the arrest in the official police car," he admitted.

The residents caught up with them and later set the Probox on fire.

This comes after the National Police Services (NPS) issued out a notice to Kenyans over fraudsters pretending to be senior ranking officers, as high as the rank of the Deputy Inspector of Police.
