800M World record holder and two-time Olympic Champion, David Rudisha, has been away from the limelight and out of active competition for the past couple of years.
Concern over his condition was raised after his wife, Lizzy Naanyu, posted a disturbing message on her social media profile earlier in the week.
"David Lekuta Rudisha real stop frustrating me with my kids. To my family, my heart is heavy I can’t hold anymore. I love you all," she stated in the now-deleted Facebook post.
His agent Mitchel Boeting, gave an update on Rudisha's condition in an interview with The Standard.
"David might not compete this season. The injury healed and reoccurred. He will be late for the season and I think he will be back next season. We expect that all will be well for him,” Boeting was quoted by the publication.
He, however, declined to comment on the family matters, "I cannot comment on their family matters. I have not even known about the post."
Rudisha's last competition was in the 2017 IAAF Diamond League meeting in Shanghai.
The celebrated athlete, who is also the President of Confederation of Africa Athletics (CAA) Athletes Commission, has allegedly not attended meetings by the continental body.
A senior Athletics Kenya official, who declined to be named, stated that Rudisha had not been actively involved in the CAA Athletics Commission.
“Sometimes it is difficult to understand some Kenyan athletes. Here an athlete has landed a big position in Africa or IAAF but he doesn’t see the importance. Rudisha appointed CAA Athletics Commission three years ago, but he is not actively involved.
"We here at AK sometimes look for him (Rudisha) to attend some of our critical events but he doesn’t respond to our phone calls or bother to reply to our texts. CAA President Hamad Kalkaba Malboum is not happy," the official told The Standard.
