Waititu's Lawyer Hard-Hitting Remark Lands Him in Trouble

Lawyer Nelson Havi, who is part of Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu's defence team, on Monday took to social media to respond to a user who called him 'corrupt'.

The user had claimed that Havi was among the most corrupt lawyers in the country and was only representing Waititu because of the money.

"Like I said sometime back, Nelson Havi and Tom Ojienda are among the most corrupt lawyers around. What they have seen in Waititu is only money that has been stolen and they want a share. Shame on you," the user stated.

In a sharply worded retort, the lawyer explained that he was only responding to a call to help a county head who needed legal representation.

"Advocates don’t choose clients; clients choose them. But how would you know that, with your illiterate drumhead?" Havi responded.

His elicited reactions from a section of Kenyans online with many faulting the lawyer.

"For people like Havi, principles are only taught in books! Dude has none," one user stated.

Another added, "You are representing a corrupt individual. I hope we never get to hear any lectures on corruption from you ever again. You could have said no. You know very well you are being paid with stolen money."

"I saw you avoiding cameras in the court, I can't believe Havi representing corrupt suspects!" a netizen exclaimed.

Waititu and his wife Susan Wangari, on Monday, appeared in court where they denied charges in a Ksh588 million illegal road tender case.

Other lawyers in his defence team are Tom Ojienda, Collins Kiprono, Kipchumba Karori, Edwin Chege and James Njoroge.

Here are some of the reactions to Havi's post:
