Deputy President William Ruto is ostensibly converting his private home in Karen, Nairobi, into a guest house.
The Standard has established that since Ruto moved out of the palatial home and into his official residence, plans have been underway to convert his private home into an exclusive wing of Weston Hotel.
“In his hustler spirit, he decided that the house could give him a coin or two for the family instead of letting it stay unoccupied,” a reliable source told the local daily.
“The hotel is currently undergoing renovation and expansion, but it will be ready and open next month,” disclosed another source involved in renovations.
Though the guest house was open and running for a few months, the renovations are expected to upgrade it into a top-of-the-range facility for the affluent clientele, complete with a presidential suite that could cost a fortune a night.
Situated along Koitobos Road, the establishment enjoys the tranquillity that is offered by the Oloolua Nature Trail, with thick forest vines and undergrowth below high treetops and a giraffe centre metres away.
At the official residence that is also located in the affluent Karen suburb, Ruto has built the National Prayer Altar which was opened on July 31, 2019.
The church was launched in a ceremony that was attended by Reverend Teresa Wairimu, Bishop Mark Kariuki, KFCB CEO, Ezekiel Mutua, Citizen TV's Victoria Rubadiri and Joe Ageyo among others.
Construction began as early as August 22, 2018, when DP Ruto laid the foundation stone for the church.
"Today (July 31, 2019), my husband, the Deputy President and I were blessed to have been joined by Fathers of Faith and key leaders in various mountains of influence during the opening ceremony of our National Prayer Altar at the official residence of the Deputy President.
"David built there an altar to the Lord and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings. Thus the Lord was moved by prayer for the land, and the plague was held back from Israel (2 Samuel 24:25)," read Ms Ruto's post on Facebook.
