In a video that has gone viral on social media platforms, a lady believed to be a member of President Uhuru Kenyatta's security personnel is seen slapping Nakuru Senator, Susan Kihika, at a public function on Wednesday.
The senator is seen to be involved in an altercation with the bodyguard before the latter finally slaps her.
The cause of their altercation has, however, not been established.
It is alleged that the woman, who is dressed in civilian clothes, had confronted some of the lawmakers for carrying handbags. She cited that the bags posed security threats.
Some of the leaders present among them; Nakuru West MP, Samuel Arama, Gilgil MP, Martha Wangari and County Speaker Joel Kairu, are seen trying to step in and quell the situation.
On seeing what had transpired with her colleague, Njoro MP Charity Kathambi was quick to hand in her bag to one of the security officers for checking. On the other hand, Naivasha MP Jayne Kihara was asked to step aside so that her bag would be checked.
It is reported that a majority of the MCA's were also ordered out of line to avoid crowding, at the place where the commander in chief would be received.
In April 2019, the president's security stopped a Chinese man from touching the president.
In a clip that went viral, the man stretched his hand to touch Uhuru and one of his security men elbowed him to the side as the president unresponsively walked ahead.
The bodyguard also seemed to have had a word with the businessman, because the Chinese man noded as they exchanged glances.
