Ethic's Viral Song Sparks Trouble With International Music Label

Kenyan urban music sensational group, Ethic, suffered a major blow after their popular song Figa, was pulled down from all major online music platforms.

The song faces controversies as it is alleged that they used instrumentals of a Spanish song dubbed Coño by artists Puri featuring Jhorrmountain and Adje.

The original beat was composed by Spinnin' Records, a Dutch record label.

Sanam Puri is the lead vocalist/composer in the band Sanam which was formed in 2010 in Mumbai India.

The band is famous for its renditions of old classic Bollywood songs as well as original music. Other band members include Samar Puri (lyricist/lead guitar/composer), Venky S or Venkat Subramaniyam (bass guitar) and Keshav Dhanraj (Drums/lead music arranger)

The song, which had earned them over 3 million views on YouTube was a club banger.

Endeared Jamaican musician, Konshens, had also done an unofficial remix of the song, while heaping praise on the music group.

In July, members of  the group were hospitalised after they were involved in a fight that happened at an event they were headlining.

According to Rekles, one of the group members, the security team at Koroga Festival descended on some of his colleagues and left them nursing injuries.

While it was not clear which hospital they sought treatment, a video of some of the group members being attended to surfaced online.

"As we speak four of our members including our DJ, hypeman, Zilla and our driver are all in hospital, brutally injured by guards from the K9 Security Company and other festival organizers," read a statement from Ethic.
