EACC to Train Ruto's Aides on Corruption

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), on Wednesday, announced that it was taking members of Deputy President William Ruto's office through a corruption prevention training course.

Already, Corruption Prevention Committee (CPC) members in President Uhuru Kenyatta's office as well as officers from the various ministries, had undergone the training on Wednesday.

"The Corruption Prevention Committee training will equip trainees with knowledge, skills and tools to promote ethics, integrity and good governance in their respective institution," the commission disclosed.

In the statement shared by EACC, corruption was identified as a major hindrance to performance, thereby, necessitating the need to take the various employees through a crash course.

"Corruption Prevention is one of the performance contracting annual targets on which institutions are supposed to report progress on a quarterly basis to the commission," an excerpt of the statement divulged.

EACC Education Officer, Ann Kiprotich conducted the first session, in which she took the team through the evolving trends in the fight against corruption and unethical conduct.

She emphasised the commission's belief that integrity is a critical concern to any institution involved in service delivery especially as critical as the Presidency. It is fundamental to everything else in an institution, as it greatly influences its success.

The new exercise came on the day the commission launched investigations into 27 firms that were suspiciously allocated prime land belonging to the Kenya Railway Corporation (KRC).

Key players involved in the suspicious allocations including top KRC officials were summoned by the EACC for interrogation at integrity centre.
