Shoot-out in Nairobi Leaves 2 Dead

Two suspects were sprayed with bullets by undercover detectives, on Monday, after a distress call by members of the public.

The police stated the two suspected gang members were on a robbery mission at Kiamaiko- Soko ya Mbuzi area in Mathare Constituency, when the incident occurred.

Taking to Twitter, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), reported that the shootout occurred after the gang refused to surrender.

"The two fatalities resulted from an exchange of live fire after the gang defied a lawful order by the detectives to surrender and fired at them," read the statement from authorities.

Detectives also recovered one pistol and several rounds of ammunition from the armed robbers.

Two of the gang members, however, are still being hunted down by the police.

In another incident that happened on Sunday,  August 25, police opened fire on a high court judge's car.

The judge's wife had called the officers, expressing fears that he had been carjacked.

The police then moved swiftly and circulated information regarding the vehicle, ordering all officers on patrol to intercept the vehicle upon sighting.

The car was finally traced to Kileleshwa, at around 6am of the following day, and the officers subsequently swooped in and opened fire to deflate the car's tyres, bringing it to a halt.
