Emotional Chinese Man Pleads With Court Over Pregnant Kenyan Wife

A Chinese man on Tuesday, August 27, surprised a court in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu county, with a touching plea to a magistrate, concerning his Kenyan wife.

The suspect identified as Chen Hua is reported to have been arrested two weeks ago for being in the country illegally.

He pleaded with Senior Resident Magistrate, Christine Menya, to release him on bail to enable him to take care of his expectant Kenyan wife.

Hua, who was not represented by any lawyer, disclosed that his wife who was eight months pregnant, would have no one to care for her in his absence.

The suspect was arrested in a house in Kapsoya estate in Eldoret, following a tip-off from members of the public, People Daily Reports.

Hua pleaded not guilty to the charges. 

Ms. Menya directed that he be remanded at Eldoret GK Prison pending hearing and determination of his case.

The matter is set to proceed on September 11, 2019.

In past instance, police based in Athi River, on August 16, 2019, conducted a raid on a chang’aa den run by Chinese nationals at the Green Park Estate.

They bust led to the arrest of two Chinese, Wang Yalan and Ms Wang Haijian, who were allegedly running the distillery.

Area OCPD, Samuel Mkuusi, revealed that the two were arrested in one of the houses in the posh estate.
