Tuju Stamps Authority After Jubilee Fake Letter

Jubilee Party Secretary General Raphael Tuju, on Wednesday, moved to stamp his authority after a fake letter made its way to the IEBC, with a list of individuals who were said to be the party's Kibra by-election aspirants

In a press statement seen by Kenyans.co.ke, Tuju took to the party’s Twitter handle to post a press statement to clarify the channels of communications within the party, in regards to the nomination of aspirants for the Kibra mini poll.

“Following various misleading and speculative reports we have seen in the mainstream and social media, the following should be noted,” the statement started.

The statement then went on to note that the party's National Election Board (NEB) Chairperson, Andrew Musangi, was the only person allowed to be quoted by the media on matters that relate to the nomination exercise.

Tuju then stated that for the verification of any information, the media and (or) the aspirants are to contact one Albert Mumesi, who is the party’s director of communications.

He then explained that the stringent measures had to be put in place to prevent fake news.

The secretary general also revealed that his office had no role to play in the nomination process, other than communicating the decisions of the NEB.

In the statement, the Jubilee boss further gave deadlines for those who intend to get the party’s ticket for the Kibra race.

Tuju stated that Friday, August 30, 2019, would be the final day for the aspirants to register with the NEB, and those who meet the requirements would be invited for interviews on August 31, 2019, and September 1, 2019.

Finally, he urged the aspirants to pick the party forms from the Jubilee Directorate of Elections.
