Amani National Congress (ANC) party Secretary-General Barrack Muluka, on Wednesday, intimated that the likelihood of his boss Musalia Mudavadi working with Deputy President William Ruto was very high.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Tony Gachoka on KTN’s show Point Blank, Muluka stated that his party leader would team up with any other like-minded individuals to oppose any constitutional changes being fronted by the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).
“Mudavadi will team up with other opponents to defeat President Uhuru Kenyatta and Opposition leader Raila Odinga should the BBI lead to a referendum,” Muluka stated.
“My party leader Mudavadi and the party itself did not make any presentations to the Building Bridges Initiative, therefore, we will go flat out to shoot down any referendum if it is recommended,” he reiterated.
Politicians allied to President Uhuru Kenyatta and Odinga support the BBI while those opposed to it, seem to be angling towards lawyer Ekuro Aukot sponsored Punguza Mizigo Bill.
Muluka also declared that Mudavadi had launched a full-blown war against the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) on the November Kibra parliamentary by-election.
The seat fell vacant following the death of the area MP Ken Okoth, who was a staunch ODM supporter.
“ANC is ready to vanquish Raila and ODM in Kibra. This is just the beginning of an all-out war we have declared against Raila and Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka," he asserted.
On Wednesday, ANC presented a former aide of the ODM leader, as his candidate for the Kibra Constituency by-election.
Mudavadi handed over his party's nomination certificate to Eliud Owalo, at its headquarters in Lavington, Nairobi.
Owalo resigned from ODM on August 23, 2019, in what was seen as a strategic move to better his chances of clinching the Kibra seat.
