Gideon Moi in Trouble Over Foreign Trip

Baringo Senator, Gideon Moi ,on Friday, August 30, came under fierce criticism after his social media post backfired on him.

The senator posted a picture of him alongside Nairobi Senator, Johnson Sakaja, and Nyeri Senator, Ephraim Maina, explaining that they had travelled to Malaysia for an official trip.

"With fellow Senators Maina and Sakaja in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, where members of the Senate Liaison Committee comprising of  committee chairpersons are on an official visit," Gideon captioned on his Twitter.

However, his post did not please Kenyans who angrily tore into him claiming he abandoned his area residents, who were succumbing to Malaria and hunger.

On August 24, Citizen TV reported that four people died and over 100 others were admitted to hospital, after a malaria outbreak in Baringo County.

The deceased were two children and two adults from Kongor area.

Other affected areas are Kulol, Kaghat, Chesawach, Akoret, Kapau, Atirir, Chesotim, Lokis, Ng’aina, Korelach and Krese.

According to Tirioko Ward MCA, Sam Lokales, thousands of people were affected by the outbreak.

"Malaria is killing your people but again...do you care?" Neok Kijomba questioned the senator.

"You are in Malaysia when your constituents are dying of hunger and you are dining and posing," Mwangi Karani lashed out.

"With the current state in Kenya, especially with county governments that you directly oversight, this should not have been a priority. We have county governments planning to shut down and you guys are busy on an "official" visit to nowhere. We can only sum it as shameless and clueless," another netizen replied.
