Emurua Dikirr MP, Johana Ng'eno was reportedly arrested on Tuesday, during the highly charged Maasai Mau Forest evictions.
The legislator was taken into custody at a police barricade, which had been set up to block him and his entourage of protestors from accessing the affected families.
Ng'eno, who tried to gain access into the area using a boda boda, is currently being transferred to Narok Police Station for questioning.
The legislator was in the company of his Chepalungu counterpart Gideon Koske and over 15 MCAs.
Police officers were recorded roughing up Koske, as he was trying to free his colleague.
Illegal settlers in the controversial area had started making their way out as early as Monday, to avoid a major confrontation with Kenya Forest Service (KFS) rangers, deployed to execute an eviction order.
An order commanding the settlers to vacate the vital water tower was issued last week by Rift Valley Regional Coordinator, George Natembeya.
A platoon of more than 100 KFS officers was then deployed from the Narok County ecosystem coordinator’s offices to three camps in the forest, to carry out the second phase of evictions, targeting some 60,000 families.
