New details have surfaced on why President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto do not see eye to eye. According to Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu, the two despite playing coy with their broken relationship, cannot hide the fact that communication between them is not cordial.
The first-time MP while speaking at KTN News on Wednesday, September 4, suggested that the said rift between Uhuru and Ruto is caused by Ruto's 'invasion' of Central Kenya behind Uhuru's back.
"The Bromance between the President and the Deputy President broke when the DP started thinking that he can get Central Kenya directly without going through anyone. I do not know who gave him such a plan. All I can tell him is that Central has always operated around someone."
"Ruto will not take any part of Central unless he negotiates with the leadership of the region," Ngunjiri opined.
Ngunjiri, a staunch supporter of Uhuru further hit out at DP's 2022 ambition stating that Ruto would never set foot in State House.
"Ruto will be the opposition leader of this country come 2022. He did not make Uhuru Kenyatta, Uhuru Kenyatta made Ruto!" Ngunjiri hit out.
The Kieleweke-aligned legislator further heaped praise on African Union Envoy, Raila Odinga, and President Uhuru Kenyatta over their newly formed partnership.
"I was Raila Odinga’s political advisor in 2013. The only thing he had not understood is that you cannot wish away Kikuyus from national politics," Ngunjiri asserted.
He also spoke on Uhuru's fight against corruption and the quest for peace.
"President Uhuru’s legacy will be about the person who ensured that elections stopped being about killing people. Also for the first time in this country, we have seen a genuine fight against corruption. He wants to go home having fought corruption strongly," he stated.
Ruto has toured Central Kenya numerously, a move that has sparked debate among his Jubilee Party that has threatened to divide the party into two.
