Uhuru's CS Summoned Over Row With Ruto's MPs

The outcry of Members of Parliament allied to Deputy President William Ruto Cabinet Secretary for Environment, Keriako Tobiko, in trouble on Thursday, September, 5.

The Senate Justice and Legal Affairs Committee summoned the CS to shed light on the Mau Forest evictions which have seen Rift MPs tear angrily into the government.

Also summoned is the Kenya Forest Service board whose officers are overseeing the second phase of the eviction exercise

On Sunday, September 1, Environment Committee head Kareke Mbiuki also summoned the CS. Kareke stated that the move to conduct the second round of eviction was a one-man affair and not consultative as it should have been.

Led by Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen and Kapsaret MP Oscar Rudi, Rift politicians accused Tobiko of conducting an illegal eviction. They alleged that it had not been authorised by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

"I dare say that Keriako Tobiko should be called out for insubordination against the president and carrying out processes that have not been approved by the government of Kenya.

When we stand here and speak I do not wish to be questioned why I am contradicting the government. We are the government. Keriako Tobiko is not the government," Murkomen blasted during a press conference in Nairobi on Wednesday, September 4.

Oscar Sudi claimed that should the eviction eventually happen, the Kenyatta and Moi families should give out a portion of their lands for resettling the Mau evictees.

Emurua Dikirr MP, Johana Ng'eno was arrested on Tuesday, September 3, during the highly charged Maasai Mau Forest evictions.

The legislator was taken into custody at a police barricade, which had been set up to block him and his entourage of protestors from accessing the affected families.

Ng'eno, was transferred to Narok Police Station for questioning and later released.
