Murkomen Reveals Truth Behind Imran Okoth's Kibra ODM Ticket

Senate Majority leader Kipchumba Murkomen on the night of Sunday, September 8, made sensational allegations concerning ODM's Kibra nominations that were held on Saturday, September 7.

This was during an interview with K24's Anne Kiguta on the Punchline show.

The Elgeyo Marakwet senator disclosed that Benard 'Imran' Okoth, the late Ken Okoth's brother, who is set to contest for the Kibra Member of Parliament (MP) seat on an ODM ticket, was not the party leader, Raila Odinga's candidate of choice.

"In fact, there is a political analysis that Imran was not his preferred candidate and that if it was up to him he would have wanted somebody else to win," opined the senator.

Kiguta had sought to find out what he thought of ODM's nominations for that particular seat.

The vocal senator, nevertheless, congratulated ODM for finally choosing their candidate and even went ahead to shower Imran with compliments stating that he was a fantastic guy.

Murkomen also admitted that he was saddened by the fact that conversations concerning the Kibra by-election had been reduced to a competition between Deputy President (DP) William Ruto and ODM leader Raila, who are not part of the competition.

He argued that as much as McDonald Mariga was outrightly the DP's preferred candidate, Ruto had no role in the party's national elections board because he (Ruto) together with President Uhuru Kenyatta only provide overall leadership.

"Most importantly, to move the conversation to Ruto who is not even the Jubilee Party leader, it would have been easier to say it is between Uhuru and Raila because they lead the various political parties."

Mariga was nominated on Monday, September 2, through interviews by Jubilee Party, to take part in the upcoming Kibra by-election beating 16 other contestants.

Murkomen concluded by urging the politicians to respect such nomination processes stating the competition was not between Ruto and Raila.

"Even if we win as Jubilee, it will be a win for Kibra or Mariga it will never reflect in any way as the popularity of Ruto and I will say the same with Raila," he insisted.
