Police Vehicle Rams into Trailer, Kills Three [PHOTOS]

A police vehicle rammed into a trailer along the along Bungoma - Malaba highway at Ikapolok area in Busia county.

According to reports, the trailer was heading to Uganda while the police car was being driven from Malaba heading towards Amagoro at the time of the accident.

A police report revealed that due to the impact of an accident both the drivers succumbed to injuries on the spot.

Their bodies of the deceased were moved to Kocholya sub-county hospital mortuary.

The passengers on police vehicle who sustained injuries were rushed to Bungoma hospital for treatment.

Earlier in September, a Modern Coast bus travelling from Kenya was involved in an accident with a trailer bearing Ugandan plates along the Iganga-Bugiri highway in Uganda.

According to Besweri Kawanguzi an eyewitness who spoke to Uganda's Daily Monitor, the accident between the bus with the registration Number KBU 651Q and the trailer a ZE 2344 occurred at around 5.30am.

Kawanguzi, who was on his way to the garden at the time of the accident, added that the trailer driver lost control and veered to the right-hand side of the road where he collided with the bus.

The police are reported to have arrived at the scene immediately and the officer-in-charge of traffic at Bugiri Police Station, Hopkins Twesiga, confirmed that three people died on the spot, while five were pronounced dead on their arrival at Bugiri Hospital.

Twesiga further disclosed that the driver of the trailer and his colleague died on the spot.

The other passengers were rushed to different hospitals in Uganda including Bugiri, Iganga and Fast Line Medical Centre in Bugiri.
