Okoth, Mariga Campaigns Turn Ugly [PHOTOS]

The Kibra parliamentary campaigns seem to be taking an ugly turn as the Jubilee and ODM candidates try to outdo each other.

Supporters of ODM candidate, Imran Okoth and those of McDonald Mariga, the Jubilee flagbearer, were reported to be disfiguring rivals' posters.

A couple of Okoth's supporters have been photographed covering Mariga's posters with their own and Mariga's supporters returning the gesture.

In fact, one of the residents described the campaigns as 'a psychological war.'

Previously, ODM leader Raila Odinga and Mariga have called for peaceful campaigns in the area.

“We do not need to fight or harass one another. Let’s just interact peacefully and talk to the people who are our bosses,” Mariga stated.

On September 19, 2019, during a press conference at his Capitol Hill office in Nairobi, the former prime minister advocated for peaceful campaigns in the spirit of a mature democracy.

"We would like to see that the campaigns in Kibra Constituency are done in a very peaceful and friendly atmosphere.

"We don't want to see any kind of violence in this campaign. We want to show Kenyans and the world that Kenyan democracy is maturing," he noted.
